Industrial and Construction Safety

Introduction:

Many campus construction and maintenance projects have the potential to impact the health and safety of students, staff, and public as well as the environment. Planning and early detection is the key to eliminating or reducing project associated risks and accidents. The Construction and Industrial Safety program exists to provide guidance regarding public safety, worker safety, site safety, and regulatory requirements and issues.
Goals of the Program:

  • Fall Protection
  • Confined Space
  • Hot Work Permitting
  • Lock Out - Tag Out
  • Use of Hazardous Construction related Chemicals for example: Volatile solvents and strippers, adhesives and removers, industrial paints and coatings.
  • Machine Guarding
  • Worker PPE Recommendations (eye protection and attire)
  • Construction Plan and Design reviews
